Information
on Cambodian athletes
Here's the
IAAF's (International Amateur Athletics Federation) directory of
Cambodian athletes. Not very comprehensive unfortunately - it's up to
date for Hem Bunting (including his performance at the Southeast Asia
Games in December 2009) but does not include Sean Sopheak who competed
in the same Games.
Angkor Marathon
Cambodia's biggest and longest-running distance road-event. Although
called a marathon it is in fact a half-marathon, with a 10 k and family
races too. Held every year in early December in Siem Reap, home of the
famous Angkor Wat temple complex in north-central Cambodia.
Kep Half Marathon
The third edition of this race will take place in March 2010 in Kep, in
southern Cambodia. The event is a fund-raiser for the NGO Bridges
Across Borders.
Nepalese
trail running
This site was
sent to me by Roger Henke, a famously mad Dutch runner in Cambodia
who when not putting the country's civil society to rights could be
found pounding the streets of Phnom Penh, or more likely running up the
nearest available Himalayan peak. Now running a hotel in Nepal, he's a
great person to contact for anyone thinking of hiking/running in the
Himalayas.
AMA Events
This is a
company behind a number of adventure events in Thailand including
biking and triathlons as well as running.
BongThom dot com
A useful portal
to find out what's on in Cambodia, as well as being a place to buy and
sell stuff, advertise jobs, etc.
